Trailhead Pelvic Floor Therapy Tips

Updated: Jul 16, 2023

A place where you can find pelvic floor therapy ideas and strategies to improve your pelvic and abdominal health.

Welcome to our blog. I am Dr. Sunel Vanderwalt, a pelvic health physical therapy specialist and owner of Trailhead Pelvic & Visceral Physical Therapy in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, NM. Through this blog, we aim to create a space where people can learn about topics that may be uncomfortable to talk about but necessary to understand.

Who is this blog for?

This blog is for all genders and ages, especially those with pelvic health and abdominal problems. Our therapists have additional training in men's health, and many of our blog posts will be to help with male pelvic floor dysfunction. As we are much more than a pelvis with special parts, we also plan to cover other related orthopedic problems and go beyond that, focusing on nerves, fascia, blood vessels, and organs.

Trailhead is the point at which the trail begins.

We welcome you to begin your path toward pelvic floor healing with our assistance.

What kind of pelvic therapy tips will we provide?

So how much do you know about the elusive pelvic floor and your organs? Do you have questions about urinary leakage, bowel incontinence, sexual dysfunction, prolapse, and abdominal or pelvic pain? Do you need help with IBS, GERD, constipation, hiatal hernia, or scar tissue? Do you wonder whether you should be doing Kegel exercises or lifting heavy objects after a prolapse? Are you wondering if you should go to pelvic floor therapy, or can you do it by yourself using information gained from the internet? Which of those tips online should you believe anyway?

We will explore everything pelvic floor (inside the pelvis), abdominal dysfunction (above the pelvis), and more! Did you know that our emotions can greatly impact our organs? Think: "I have a gut feeling," "This gives me goosebumps," or wanting to throw up before public speaking. We aim to provide tips and strategies to help yourself, whether getting rid of your problem or becoming more resilient in dealing with it. We have some fantastic articles in the pipeline that you absolutely cannot afford to miss!
